Saks and Layla

The table base was originally a cylinder with an elliptical shape. It was hollowed out in the same elliptical form and then divided to make two asymmetrically sized base elements. Whether close together or far apart, they create the same original idea of subtraction. Layla, we wanted something that would facilitate a perhaps now old-fashioned gesture, that of a gentleman pulling out a chair for a lady to sit on. This is why the legs extend up and wrap around the back to form a handle, making the chair easy to move.
